The USA continues its Mario-affair.
Nintendo were singing the sales of Mario Sunshine in the USA from the rooftops yesterday, as it was revealed the title has sold through more than 350,000 copies in the ten days it was on-sale. The Kyoto-based giants went on to point out, that these sales are more successful than Halo on the Xbox, or indeed Grand Theft Auto 3 on the PS2, on a like-for-like basis.
The release has sparked new interest in the GameCube across the pond, too, with Nintendo reporting some hardware sales up 50% in certain stores. All in all, we’re given to believe its been a success.
"This launch is historic - promising to break longstanding records," says Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America. "So far, sales rates for Super Mario Sunshine are running 36 percent ahead of even Super Mario 64 six years ago-and that game went on to sell more than 10 million units worldwide."
yeah let's hope it does that well in the UK!!!
