Immersion - owners of the rumble technology used in next-generation controllers such as Sony's DualShock 3 - have been forced to pay Microsoft 20.75 million USD by US courts.

The firm were obliged contractually to pay Microsoft a sum of 15 million USD, after settling a disagreement over their patented technology with Sony; which resulted in the newly rumbling Dual Shock 3 controller.

Microsoft had of course paid to license the technology for the Xbox 360 - and were no doubt disappointed to see Sony and Immersion settle their differences. That said, Immersion refused to pay Microsoft following the Dual Shock 3's arrival, prompting the MS-led lawsuit.

Microsoft did of course win. Hence this settlement.
