With Games Convention 2008 now done and dusted in Leipzig, Germany, and a clean-operation no doubt sweeping up the debris of Europe's most important gaming event, the event's organisers have declared the show a hit.

The show apparently attracted a whopping 203,000 visitors, even more than 2007, with nearly 15,000 trade visitors. On the press front, the show lured nearly 4,000 journalists from 48 nations - again more than last year.

547 exhibitors displayed their wares, and the Leipzig Messe have officially confirmed that GC 2009 has been dated. The show will run from August 19th to the 23rd, 2009.

GC will face some competition next year, however, the German trade body the BIU having confirmed its own expo in Cologne. The show will be called GamesCOM, but details are more scant presently. We'll keep you posted.
