Games for Windows Live to go free

Leaving 360 owners as the only ones still paying for online gaming

It seems like PC owners will no longer have to pay for the Games for Windows Live service, the PC equivalent of Xbox Live as Microsoft have announced GfW will now be available free.

Also announced was the intended autumn launch of Games for Windows Live Marketplace where you'll be able to download demos, trailers and DLC much like its Xbox namesake.

GfW has struggled to find a place for itself among PC games used to free online gaming. The move to free access should help gain the service more users although will run the risk of making 360 owners wonder why they're left paying for a similar service.
