Publisher furthers non-gaming pretensions
Ubisoft acquired a new non-gaming entity this week in the shape of Canadian outfit Hybride Technologies.
The Montreal-based enterprise are visual effects specialists who have worked on films such as 300 and Sin City in the past.
Who knows what Ubisoft will put Hybride to work on, be it games or films, but we do know this is part of CEO Yves Guillemot's vision for the publisher to expand beyond traditional games development and publishing.
"This alliance is a true first for the industry," beamed Yannis Mallat, Ubisoft Montreal big wig.
"Ubisoft and Hybride share the same vision of entertainment convergence and a common passion for innovation and creativity."
