Ninty could push console MMOs

Mythic chief eyes future

EA Mythic creative chief Paul Barnet has told CVG that Nintendo could be the company to spearhead the MMO explosion on home consoles.

So far, the biggest MMOs have been released on the PC, with the Xbox 360's Final Fantasy XI the only mild success story. Perhaps Ninty's 'leftfield' approach could change this, muses Barnet.

"You would have to build something very console centric from the get-go," he offered. "I think probably the best chance of someone doing something like that is Nintendo - doing something crazy that no one expects.

"The number-one problem of a developer of an MMO these days is it’s very hard to be creative and keep your eye on the target when almost everyone has only ever played one of these games and it dominates their thinking."

More soon.
