Microsoft haggles over Xbox 2 components

ATI and NVIDIA battle it out

According to a suggestion from Dundee Securities, graphics hardware firm ATI are well positioned to become the supplier of the graphics chip for the next generation of the Xbox.

Microsoft are however, keen to date both ATI and NVIDIA to encourage a little competition in the price stakes. ATI also provide the graphics chips for the Nintendo GameCube, whilst NVIDIA provided the advanced visuals enjoyed by the current Xbox.

Microsoft is also rumoured to be generating competition between Intel and AMD as to who will supply the CPU, once again, this can only benefit their bottom line further. More news on this kind of idle speculation and conjecture as we get it.

1. i love xbox it rules the gaming zones the GPU is outstanding and when i play 4x4 evo 2 its just so real and i love the music creating thing on it to. it never frozze on me yet even when i keep it on and go out to the movies are something it stills runs fine when i get back to playing a game and DVD. The CPU is great to a p3 is anough power to run all the stuff but if there going to change it to make it faster that's good because some games have some big levels and you will need that extra punch to load the games faster maybe they should think about putting a cooling fan where the jewel is on top but keep the jewel just make it where the jewel open up when you turn the system on and a fan is there that way there be 2 fans to keep things cool and they should add a thing inside when one of your fans fell it can tell you the system is taking in to much heat that way it gives you time to save your game and let the system cool down. But xbox 2 will rule and i hope it does to because playstation is trying to take over and i was happy with my dreamcast if bill gates could build a dreamcast 2 and hire all the sega team that would be nice i like sega and i hated to see them go.
