Supreme Commander 2 official, Square publishing
Shock publishing announcement
Gas Powered Games' new RTS title, Supreme Commander 2, has been officially confirmed - and in something of a surprise move the US-developed game will be published by Japanese giants Square Enix.
Square confirm that development is well underway on the RTS sequel, but stop short of telling us which formats the game will be coming to, or precisely when.
Square Enix are of course famous for creating Japanese favourites like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, however this move sees the firming making an all-out assault on Western markets, where Chris Taylor's RTS is most popular.
"We see great opportunities in European and North American markets, both of which are expected to be maintaining sustainable growth over these coming years," let slip Yoichi Wada, Square commander-in-chief.
"Therefore, it is crucial we create alliances with proven developers such as Gas Powered Games in order to serve these significant markets better by providing products and services in tune with customer tastes."
More on SC2, soon.
